Our approach

How our cameras work

Proportionate CCTV arrangements with privacy, security and oversight built into deployment.

Motion-triggered recording

USCN’s standard approach uses motion-triggered video recording. Camera settings and coverage must be assessed before commissioning.

Technologies we do not use

Our approved CCTV arrangements do not include audio recording, ANPR, facial recognition, automated cross-camera tracking, behavioural profiling or unrestricted remote PTZ.

Who controls the cameras?

USCN owns and controls its equipment. Property hosts may supply a location, electricity and internet access, but they do not have administrator access or independent access to footage.

Security and storage

Recordings are held on encrypted local storage, with restricted and logged access. Operational cloud recording is not used. Separately authorised temporary disclosure copies may be permitted.

Before a camera goes live

Physical installation and testing are distinct from operational commissioning. Each camera requires a site-specific DPIA, appropriate signage, technical checks and express DPO authorisation before operational recording.
